Questions

Travel eSIM FAQs

What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone. Instead of inserting a plastic card, you install a data plan from the MyTele app in a couple of minutes.

Will my phone work with an eSIM?

Most recent iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones support eSIM. Check the compatible phones list on the Travel eSIM page, or dial *#06# — if you see an EID number, your phone supports eSIM. Your phone must also be unlocked.

When should I install my eSIM?

Install it before you travel, while you're on Wi‑Fi at home. It stays inactive until you land, then switches on when it connects to a network in your destination.

Can I keep my Tanzanian number?

Yes. Your normal SIM stays in your phone, so you can still receive calls and SMS on your number. The eSIM is used for data only.

What happens if I run out of data?

Top up in the MyTele app at any time, from anywhere. You'll get a notification when you're close to your limit.

Can I get a refund if I don't travel?

If you haven't installed the eSIM, contact us in the app and we'll help. Once an eSIM has been installed, it can't be refunded.
